    Hi Kassi and Michael,

I thought it expedient to CC Julie and Natalie here again too, so we can get this resolved quickly and without additional confusion. I apologize for any miscommunication – and thank you for checking in. Yes I was trying to get a contact for FJC, but was able to obtain one through another source.

Although this request and email subject pertains to the Sheriff’s Office Personnel Advisory Board (https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/buncombe-county-sheriffs-office-personnel-advisory-board/), I think I see what went wrong here – some wires got crossed in the process of receiving Natalie Bailey’s replies and her reply about FJC got mixed up within the her reply to the Advisory Board request.

We’ve received numerous Sheriff’s Dept. related requests recently, which have also been sent to Natalie, so we asked that she please reply to the exact request that was emailed, and indicate the correct subject line or URL pertaining to each one so that we can keep them all separate.

This request was sent to you and Michael in early May. After some back and forth it was determined that for Sheriff Dept. requests we should reach out to Natalie Bailey, which we did on May 11. We had several correspondences back and forth with Natalie, and after continuing to follow up on the status of the requests, were told that specifically for “metrics and statistics regarding assessments of the efficacy of this particular model in dealing with domestic violence” we should “Contact the Family Justice Center”.

I believe that what should have happened instead, is that we should have then broken that line out of this Personnel email, and instead emailed Julie N. about the request called “Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Calls for Service” found at
    https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/buncombe-county-sheriffs-office-domestic-violence-calls-service/

    Or,

“Buncombe County Strategic Partners [Family Justice Center]” https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/buncombe-county-strategic-partners-family-justice-center/, or both (?).

At this point, I have to assume that Natalie was referring to one of those two, but I’ll follow up with her to check. I don’t think that any additional reply is needed from yourself, Michael, or Julie related to the Advisory Board request, and I’ll reach out to Julie / Natalie about the other requests.

Thank you for your time and assistance!
    – Sunshine Request.

Good afternoon Sunshine Request, I am seeking a little clarification here. Is there a public records request for the Family Justice Center below or are you looking for confirmation of contact information? For confirmation purposes; for public records requests related to the Family Justice Center, please forward to Julie Klipp Nicholson as well as Michael Frue and myself and we will work to facilitate information as we can.

    Thank you.

    Hi Julie,

I work for a website called Sunshine Request www.sunshinerequest.com. We built a site that makes it easier to make public records requests by filling out a simple form, and the results of any requests are posted on our site. This allows citizens to learn more about our local government, while saving staff from having to fulfill duplicate requests. If you have any questions about the project, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to answer.

Back in April we sent this request to Buncombe County Government and subsequently the Sheriff Dept. We’ve since been told by Natalie Bailey that we should “contact the Family Justice Center for all metrics and statistics regarding assessments of the efficacy of this particular model in dealing with domestic violence.” Please see details of original request below and you may also keep track of all the updates related to this request thus far at this link: https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/buncombe-county-sheriffs-office-personnel-advisory-board/

Here are the details sent by the requester:

Subject: Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Personnel Advisory Board

Thank you! I’ve looked at the Family Justice Center’s website (https://www.buncombecounty.org/law-safety/family-justice-center/) and although I can locate a phone number I am not immediately able to find an email contact. Can you please provide me with an email for who I should reach out to?

Over the past month or so, we have received four requests through our website related to information regarding the Sheriff or Sheriff’s office, which we are now told may be available in your office. Although we have been sending our requests to Kassi Day and Michael Frue, as we do all our Buncombe County related requests, we had not received notification until today that we should instead contact you about these requests. Kassi advises that these requests were forwarded to the Sheriff’s office, and that you are the contact we should speak with from here on as relates to the Sheriff. Can you please confirm whether you are in receipt of all the requests we’ve sent in? For reference, they are:

If so, can you please send replies in those specific email threads on Gmail? When you do, please let us know which request you’re referring to!

Thank you very much for your assistance.
