LED Streetlights – Old Fort

Hello Sunshine Request!

I would like to inquire about any feasibility studies, internal (town staff) communications, or cost/benefit analyses on the part of the Town of Old Fort regarding the implementation and/or replacement of streetlights with LED lamps. Seeing as though our area is solely dependent upon coal-generated electricity, and improvement in energy conservation is hugely important!

I would like for the request to encompass the last five years, and for any email or memorandum communication to be in an easy-to-read format.

    Good afternoon,
    As far as I know there have been no studies on the cost effectiveness of changing the street lights in town over to LED.
    The only information I can give you is that as the current lights go out Duke Power has been instructed to replace the old with the new LED.
    As far as electric cost we have noticed the cost of power has decreased and continues to decrease as new lights are replaced.
    Total cost effectiveness might be able to be figured after all light are completed.

    I really appreciate your reply, and thank you for your assistance with the request.

     

    I would like to clarify on the sender’s behalf, however, that your response doesn’t seem to fully satisfy the information detailed in the request. The request states:

    The Town of Old Fort have some LED street lights installed. When the Town reports a street out Duke Energy replaces the old light with a LED street light. At this time the Town is not sure when Duke Energy is going to replace all the street lights to LED.
