Asheville Middle School Feb. 27 – 28 fundraiser

I would like to request the gross amount of money raised in the "AMS Cougar Fitness Fundraiser" held on February 27-28, 2019 at Asheville Middle School. I would also like to request the net amount of money that was sent to the school as a result of the fundraiser. Lastly, I would like to request a copy of the contract/agreement between the vendor and Asheville City Schools or Asheville Middle School.

We’re following up again on this request that was submitted at the start of March 2019. https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/asheville-middle-school-feb-27-28-fundraiser/

We understand that it can take some time to process requests and people get busy. However, as it’s been nearly 2 months since we’ve sent our clarifying email on 09/27 (as well as all subsequent follow ups) and have not heard back, in the interest of getting this request closed out on our site, for now we’re going to assume that the request has been “Denied” and will record the status as such on our site.

If you would like to respond to provide additional clarification at some point, we will be happy to reopen the request and can work to get it marked as “Completed” at that time.

The Fundraiser request was sent in on March 06, 2019. Similar to your response above, during the course of our follow ups you mentioned previously that you did not have access to the information at the time.

We’d like to ask if you could please clarify for users on our site whether you’re saying that you do not have access to the information currently, but it is (or will be) available and it could be obtained at some point. Or, are you saying that you will not be able to access this information at any point.

I hope all is well. This is a response on behalf of Dr. Denise Patterson, Superintendent of Asheville City Schools.

Asheville City Schools has received your public records request. In accordance with North Carolina General Statutes § 115C-320 and based on the information you have requested.

The fundraiser was conducted by the Asheville Middle School PTO, a separate organization. Any contracts were between the company and the Asheville Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Asheville Middle School has not received any donations from the Asheville Middle School Parent Teacher Organization to date from this fundraiser. Once money is received from the Asheville Middle School Parent Teacher Organization by Asheville Middle School we can provide records showing the total amount received by Asheville Middle School.

We will continue to review and fully respond to public records requests to the extent permitted by North Carolina General Statutes § 115C-320.
