(August 2019) NCSU License Plate Readers

Hello North Carolina State University Public Records Officer!

I am seeking all emails sent to or received by current and former employees of the NCSU Transportation Department mentioning License Plate Readers, also known as LPRs.

It is understood that personnel and student information may need to be redacted, but please send the public portions of the record as available.

    Thank you for the update. All requests submitted through our website (www.sunshinerequest.com) are done so anonymously. Therefore, we are unable to provide additional info about a request, other than to post on our site any updates we receive about a request and its fulfillment.

     

    We will note what you’ve said here for the sender on our site. Typically, we’d ask that you proceed with the request as is, however, in this case we do see the potential for the request to take a long time, considering there is no timeline included and “all emails for all “current and former employees” is broad. We will mark this request as complete and will note for the sender to please resubmit this request with a narrowed date range, and possibly more specific details about the timeline for “former employees”.

    Editor’s Note to Sender: Please review the response from NCSU. Typically, whenever a government entity asks for additional information about a request, we ask that they process it as is, whenever it makes sense to do so, so long as clarification is not mandatory for the request to be processed. 

     

    In this case however, we do see that this request is a bit broad and has the potential to take quite a while to process. Therefore, we have marked the request as “Completed”, and we’d ask that if the sender still would like to obtain the information, please feel free to resubmit a new request to our site – 

     

    To do this, please include a reference link to the original request, and rewrite the request message to indicate a specific timeline for the info. to be included within the request. For example, “I would like to request all emails sent to or from all current and former employees of NCSU Transportation department from Jan. 01, 2019 – Present.”

     

    However, if there is no timeline, and you’d still like the original request to be sent in (as written above), please let us know, and it will be “Reopened” and resent.

    Hello,

     

    Yes I do have any update from our new records officer. The scope of the request is quite broad and will take significant time to complete. In order to process the request more promptly, we would like to work with you to potentially narrow the scope, perhaps provide a specific date range, specific individuals and/or specific search terms. The term “all” will generate a high volume of records.

     

    Please let me know if the scope of this search can be narrowed, which will help us respond more promptly.
