  Requirements regarding certifications needed to be a deputy with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office are governed by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission. The link to that information can be found below.

  I work for a website called Sunshine Request www.sunshinerequest.com. We built a site that makes it easier to make public records requests by filling out a simple form, and the results of any requests are posted on our site. This allows citizens to learn more about our local government, while saving staff from having to fulfill duplicate requests. If you have any questions about the project, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to answer.

   

  Over the past month or so, we have received four requests through our website related to information regarding the Sheriff or Sheriff’s office, which we are now told may be available in your office. Although we have been sending our requests to Kassi Day and Michael Frue, as we do all our Buncombe County related requests, we had not received notification until today that we should instead contact you about these requests. Kassi advises that these requests were forwarded to the Sheriff’s office, and that you are the contact we should speak with from here on as relates to the Sheriff. Can you please confirm whether you are in receipt of all the requests we’ve sent in? For reference, they are:
