Getting a copy or transcript of a 911 call

I would like to request a copy of the 911 calls made from my home on February 27, 2018 at about 7:30 pm that evening. I was first connected to the Asheville dispatcher, and then was sent to the dispatcher for Buncombe County Sheriff, because of the side of the street I live on is considered county, not City.

Editor’s Note: Sunshine Request makes no claim as to the veracity of any statements or information contained in any of the requests, or public records, we receive.

Editor’s Note to Sender 9/27/18:

All requests made through our site www.sunshinerequest.com are submitted anonymously – We review, and then send along requests to the government or other appropriate entity, on the sender’s behalf. We do not ask for users of our site to provide their name, email address, or any other identifying information. However, if requestors sending location / time specific requests (like the above) feel comfortable to provide identifying details which may help clarify the request, please do so, and please be aware that this information will be published on our site.

In this case (above), the sender has added the date / approximate time of the 911 call, but no name or address. We anticipate that the response from APD or the Sheriff’s department might likely be that a name or address will be necessary to look up the transcript, and to fulfill the request. We will send the request as is (above), and add all updates to our site, as they are received.

Once a response is received from the government, if the sender does wish to add any additional info associated with the call, please submit a new request through our site, and indicate in the subject line that it is “Clarification to Getting a copy or transcript of a 911 call”. Again, please be aware that this info. will be published on our site.

Thank you!

    Natalie,

Since our site is used anonymously, we actually do not know or have info on the address of the call. We’ve only been told the date and approximate time. However, we’ve made a note on our site for the sender that they should resubmit the request with that information, or reach out to the government directly if they’re comfortable to do so.

    Thank you,
    Sunshine Request

    Dear Sunshine Request:
I have received your record request and have forwarded it to the appropriate record custodian for processing. Once their processing is complete, I will forward any responsive records to you. In the meantime, if you have any questions please let me know.
Also, it may be that we will need more information in order to locate the record; therefore, I am asking the requester to monitor sunshinerequest.com because if the City does need more information to narrow the search I will send it to Sunshine Request and it will be posted on their website.
