Hello Burke County, NC Government,
I would like to make a public records request for the following information:
1. I would like to request any public information regarding your recent hiring process of a new Social Services Director. Please include number of applicants that applied, number sent to NC OSHR or NC DSS or qualifications approval and the number interviewed for the position.
2. Please also include the amount of salary to be paid to the chosen individual and any bonus (phone, car, etc) or moving allowance that were negotiated.
3. Please also include any Social Services Board Minutes that discuss the search and hiring process for a new Social Services Director.

1. I would like to request any public information regarding your recent hiring process of a new Social Services Director. Please include number of applicants that applied, number sent to NC OSHR or NC DSS or qualifications approval and the number interviewed for the position.
19 applicants received, 3 were sent to NC OSHR, and 3 were interviewed.
2. Please also include the amount of salary to be paid to the chosen individual and any bonus (phone, car, etc) or moving allowance that were negotiated.
$95,000 annual salary
3. Please also include any Social Services Board Minutes that discuss the search and hiring process for a new Social Services Director.
The Board can produce any open meeting minutes relative to the hiring process for the new Director. In general, closed session minutes are a statutory exemption to public records. To the extent the Social Services Board discussed the hiring of the new Director in closed session, the Board can withhold disclosure of those closed session minutes so long as public inspection of those minutes would frustrate the purpose of the closed session. The Board should consider whether the session was validly held as well as what specific information is included in the minutes as well as the current status. In general, if the matter is resolved, the purpose of the closed session may not be frustrated by disclosure of that information.
