(July 2019) Request for On Call compensation info for Buncombe Sheriff’s Office Detectives

Good Afternoon Buncombe County Sheriff's Office,

Could you please provide records, policies, or explanations for how detectives within the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office are compensated for the requirement to be on-call?

How often are detectives required to be on-call?

How many detectives are in an on-call status at a time?

Thank you for your assistance!

    Hello Sunshine Requests,

Approximately nine Detectives are on “on call” around the clock at any given time. I think it’s important to define this as
being available to respond to a work call as needed 24/7.

They are required to be “on call” one week per month.

There is no bonus pay or additional compensation for this. This requirement is part of the regular pay structure that Detectives receive.
