(October 2019) Request for Involuntary Commitment Data in Johnston County, NC

Hello, Johnston County, NC Government.

I am seeking information pertaining to requests for Involuntary Commitment in your county for the year 2019.

To the Johnston County, NC Clerk of Court:

How many requests for Involuntary Commitment have there been in Johnston County from January 01, 2019 until today (October 14, 2019)? Of those requests, how many were approved? How many were denied?

To the Chief District Court Judge of Johnston County, NC:

It is my understanding that you are the supervisor of the Johnston County Magistrate’s Office. As the Magistrate is charged with the role of hearing all requests for Involuntary Commitment in your county, what type of training, if any, has he received in dealing with or understanding individuals who may be experiencing a mental health crisis? Is he required to attend CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) Training?

Once an Involuntary Commitment order has been issued, is there an agency or department within your county that provides oversight of how these orders are handled? Is there any follow-up from any government entity on whether treatment was either provided or denied? Any information or data you have regarding the handling of Involuntary Commitment requests and/or orders in your county would be helpful.

Thank you for your assistance!

Editor’s Note: Sunshine Request makes no claim as to the veracity of any statements or information contained in any of the requests, or public records, we receive.
