We have not received a response from Jill related to this Payroll and Benefits request for the City of Brevard that was sent on April 2nd. We assume this is related to Michael’s response about FOIA requests on May 7th. Can you please cite where in the public records law where a name is required? We’re not making a FOIA request, we are making a request under NC Public records law NCGS 132. Under NCGS 132 there is no provision that requires an individual to provide a name or address with a public records request. That being said, if it will help speed along the request we are happy to give a name and address––you can consider that this request is on behalf of Patrick Conant, who is the director of Sunshine Request. His address is PO Box 17391, Asheville NC, 28816. Please confirm that you will now process this request.

Thank you for clarifying.
Apologies for any confusion on our end – I think this may have stemmed from a completed request we sent to you and Jill back in March (https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/email-text-transylvania-county-nc/) where the requestor asked for info about Transylvania County, but also listed out names of people working for City for Brevard.
That was a new experience for us, as it was our first request we’ve ever received on our site for info. related to City of Brevard, or Transylvania county. In that case, we sent the email to both Jill, and yourself, to make sure that it was routed to the right place.
Related to this current request for “City of Brevard Payroll and Benefits” (https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/payroll-benefits-request-city-brevard-nc/) – You were also already CCed on this, so apologies that you were receiving those follow ups too. We forwarded to Jill at your advise, and followed up a couple times but did not receive a reply. We’re assuming that this is related to a recent email we received from Michael Pratt, which we will follow up on soon.
For future requests, we’ll double-check that we are sending it to the correct entity, whether that’s City of Brevard or Transylvania Co.

This request does not call for any payroll or benefits information for employees of Transylvania County, only employees of the City of Brevard. I will defer to Jill to answer on behalf of the City of Brevard.
The reference to the May 21 meeting had to do with the request for records pertaining to the Sylvan Valley 2 substation and involved records from both the City of Brevard and Transylvania County. Transylvania County will do its best to respond to that particular records request by the end of the week.

My understanding is that IT has completed the key word search of electronic documents. Next steps will be for staff to sort the documents to ensure satisfaction of the records request. I must inform you that by NC law the County Manager must present the Board of Commissioners with a budget for the coming fiscal year by June 1 and she is working on preparing for that right now. The budget will be presented to the Board on May 21. Budget preparation is the current priority. I expect to have a response the week of May 21 once the budget has been presented to the Board.
