Hello City of Asheville, NC,
I'd like to make a request for the following information:
Can you please provide details as to the status of, and what happened with, the Community EMT program that Asheville Fire & Rescue was doing where they had EMT / Firefighters in bike “patrol”?

I am advised the following by the Asheville Fire Department: “The pilot program had a number of successes and an enhancement budget request was submitted in our last budget process. The greatest challenge we had with the program was sustainability, we were providing the service through firefighters working extra shifts and we couldn’t ensure we would have personnel available when needed. In the proposed enhancement we requested additional staff to perform the outreach efforts and additional equipment to operate the program on an ongoing basis. The request was not funded, however, a similar outreach program was funded and is being managed by Homeward Bound and Community and Economic Development Department.”
