Dear Sunshine Request:

The situation is as follows:

On August 22, 2018 Jefferson County Received a Sunshine Law Request sent through your agency on behalf of a Ms. Vicki Wideman. The request asked that the information sought be sent to Ms. Wideman at her email address. Further, the request asked for information that the County may not have anyway, but I could not tell based on the request. So, on August 23, 2018 , I phoned Ms. Wideman, who is very nice person by the way, and spoke with her to get more information.

During my phone conversation, Ms. Wideman informed me that four or so weeks prior (e.g. in late July) she had enlisted your company’s help, but that after not hearing back from your company, she obtained the records she sought with the help of another party. Ms. Wideman informed me that she required no information from the County at the time.

So, putting this timeline together gives us the following:

1. Ms. Wideman enlisted the help of your company in or around late July to help her make a Sunshine Law Request upon Jefferson County.
2. After not hearing back from your company for some time, she obtained the information on her own.
3. Your company’s Sunshine Law Request, sent on Ms. Wideman’s behalf, was received by the county on August 22, 2018.
4. Based on the language used in the request it was not entirely clear what type of record or report Ms. Wideman was seeking or for what property.
5. As a result, I called her, on August 23, 2018, to get more information and to see if it was even a record that the County might have.
6. I spoke with Ms. Wideman on that date and she informed me that the Sunshine Law request was moot since she already had the information.
7. November 15, 2018 you sent this follow up.

Since the requester, Ms. Wideman, did not require any information from the County in August 2018, no information was provided. I have, however, informed her that she is more than welcome to make any future Sunshine Law requests directly to the County.
